Hey Stitchers,

We have a live event via Zoom at The Quails’ Nest Art Center, Airport St, Oliver, on March 4 at 10am.  Read here what it’s all about.  Bertie is there to help me with the technology so I’m confident we can get it working.  (the default is that we have a busy and great drop in and run the recordings at another time).  Yes, I will try to run the recordings at Black Rabbit in Penticton at a later date but space is limited at the Studio.

Have a look, drop is still just $5.00, be early to get a good seat and bring something to write on if that’s important to you and a lap surface (tray?) as, depending on how many people come, we may not be able to put up tables in front of the TV…. Better to be prepared!

RSVP lynn@ujvary.ca to save a seat, we’ll limit class size so the experience is great for everyone!

Looking forward to another opportunity to learn together and stitch together!!

Embroidery Extravaganza 2026

March 4, 2026
10:00 AM Pacific

Embroidery Extravaganza 2026 is a one-day live virtual event featuring expert instructors ready to help you make your stitching more dimensional, expressive, and personal. Enjoy an inspiring keynote and breakout sessions designed to expand what you believe is possible with needle and thread.

Your Keynote: Judith Baker Montano

Judith Baker Montano is an internationally known fiber artist, teacher, and author whose painterly, freeform approach has inspired embroiderers around the world to see their stitches as building blocks for storytelling.

As Embroidery Extravaganza’s keynoteJudith Baker Montano shares how she approaches embroidery the way an artist approaches paint—using threads, yarns, and ribbons to build richly textured scenes above and below the waterline.

In this session, Judith demonstrates how just a handful of traditional stitches can evolve into organic shapes and landscapes. You’ll see how scale, direction, and a subtle twist of the needle can transform a single stitch into grasses, shrubs, seaweed, coral, or trees. Through live demonstrations, images of her award-winning work, and practical insights, she shows how simple techniques can grow into complex, flowing designs that build both technical skill and creative confidence.
