The NEW OCAC Pottery team is holding a Raku Making session in April, and Raku Firing session in May, just in time for Mother’s Day! Make a clay piece on Sunday, April 12th. You will get 1.5 lbs ( 700 g) of raku clay to make a quail or whatever you want! Raku is not for food and likely won’t hold liquids, as it is still porous after firing.
During the next month, it will dry and be bisque fired.
On May 9th, you will get your piece back, glaze it, and watch the magic happen as it gets fired, reduced and quenched. You will learn all these terms and techniques as we will have experienced potters on site both days!
