Get Fully Lunar for August's full moon

When’s the full moon this month? Well, the Fully Lunar Band plays as close to the August full moon as you can get! August 16. You’ll be sure to enjoy the rock n roll with this great band, and the moonlight!

Last week’s “Guys with Guitars” concert was a fabulous blend of ballads by Brian Highley, and some funny indie folk by The Gala Vanters. Highley admitted to taking a hiatus from performing while being a new dad, but showed real style on guitar with covers from Van Morrison, to the Beatles, to Tracy Chapman.  His soothing vocals won over the audience. Shane Swift and Luke Whittal pumped up the volume slightly with some toetapping “Folkanagan” ,  folk music done Okanagan style.  Their “home grown” tunes won some cheers from the audience, especially the quirky “I Fell” and their closing number a rousing Mexicale  foot-stomper.

Music in the Park closes the season with Jazz Out West. Easy listening jazz standards, sung by the incomparable Iris Larratt, nominated three times for Canadian Juno awards. She’s backed up by several handsome guys who know how to get a jazz groove on. That’s on Thursday August 23. More about the band here: http://www.jazzoutwest.ca
