ChaCha Laca Love Machine: one funky groovy band

Chacha Laca Love Machine 1

The perfect band for a hot summer night? ChaCha Laca Love Machine. Lead guitar Milan, bassist Chris and drummer Darren rocked the audience at Music in the Park on Thursday July 18 playing groovy licks and rhythms that conjured up tropical heat. Most of the tunes were originals with a reggae, Latin, and funk sound. Stories about loving your van (“the kind that can hold an air mattress”) and chicken stealing (you had to be there for the chicken stealing dance) got the audience laughing. One Bob Marley tune was added to the mix.    After the first set, during which the band never stopped moving, a few intrepid audience members got up to sway and stomp to the music along with the band.

Enjoy the photo spread below, including shots of Milan, Darren and Chris, and some audience members. Scroll to the bottom to find out who’s performing next week!

Join us next Thursday July 25 at 6:30  for “Okanagan Divas” Cindy Doucette and Mikie Spillett. The ladies will split sets, with Cindy contributing jazz, pop and light rock, and Mikie offering up some country tunes. Both ladies bring their own songs to the show as well as covering some great tunes. Music in the Park is every Thursday from 6:30 – 8:30 pm at the Oliver Visitor Centre (historic CPR Station) on Station Street.  Admission by donation. Bring a chair or blanket, a picnic, and some extra cash for refreshments, gift shop items in the centre, and the Oliver Farmers market right next door!
