Box Up Some Goodies!

The Fall Art Show and Sale committee is hard at work preparing for the popular event slated for October 1 and 2. Part of the work is adjudicating artistic entries for the exhibit portion of the weekend. But the other part of the work is gathering entries for the silent auction table. The silent auction is an popular feature every year, and vitally important for raising funds to cover the costs  of mounting the show.

The theme for the Fall Art Show and Sale this year is Outside the Box. The silent auction committee has picked up the same idea, and will be accepting bids for various “boxes” of goodies. Each box will have its own theme: home spa, movie night, sports fan, kids, pets, travel…. and so on. The committee thanks all those who have offered to sponsor a box so far! But there are still many to fill.

If any member (individual, group or business) of the arts council would like to participate in donating a box, we’d love to have you on board. Here is a list of the themes we have left to date.

Garden, Ethnic Diner, Chocolate/Dinner, Wine and Cheese, On the Road Vacation, Spa/Bath Relaxing, Sports Box for a Man, Teen Box, Sport Mom’s Box, Kitchen, Coffee, Cooking/Baking, BBQ/Backyard, Sewing/Mending

You are also welcome to submit your own idea for a theme box. Contact the committee first so you don’t duplicate a box already selected!  Display the items, new or gently used, in a sturdy box that allows bidders to see the items. To make your auction item really attractive, the Oliver Sagebrushers have volunteered to paint the outside of your box in your chosen theme. You may find your own box, or if that’s a problem, the committee will find an appropriate box. Once you have collected your items, contact one of the committee members below for pickup or delivery.  The deadline is September 6.

Filling the box, especially if you find a theme you like, can be a fun activity, especially if you work with a partner or group. Let your imagination run wild! If you add some gently used items, the overall cost can be kept reasonable.  The committee can help you with creative ideas to fill your box.
