SOAP Players need muscles backstage

Are you the strong silent type? Prefer a hammer in your hand than a prop? Hate the thought of wearing a costume, but love pulling on your patched overalls and work boots? The South Okanagan Amateur Players don’t need prima donnas, they’re looking for volunteers just like you!

If you are the handy type, enjoy building and painting, or are able to hoist some set pieces onto a truck, your talents will land you a spot on the backstage crew of SOAP’s upcoming comedy, The Long Weekend by Canadian playwright Norm Foster. Crew are especially required to help dismantle, load,  unload, and reconstruct the set in each of two venues: Osoyoos Minitheatre and the Cannery Stage in Penticton.

Much of this work takes place on 2 -3 weekends in mid to late October , and can take 3  – 6 hours. But the difficulty level is easy (familiarity with a screwdriver is helpful) and the troupe a friendly bunch to work with! Carpooling available, and a truck is not a requirement. Residents of Oliver, Osoyoos, and points north to Penticton are all welcome!  Dedicated volunteers who can give us a hand throughout the run earn a comp ticket to the show.

Men, women, and strong teens welcome. Why not make it a family activity?
