Fibre artists have the fall sewn up

Two local fibre arts groups, the Desert Sage Spinners and Weavers and the Double O Quilters,  return to their regular schedule of activities this September. Consider joining one or both of these talented guilds. Beginners are always welcome. As one new fibre artist mentioned recently, “I couldn’t believe I was working with all this talent around me — and they still took time to teach me  and share their love of the craft!”  Both groups have amazing teachers and skilled artists on hand to help you along and inspire you.

Their Fibre Arts Festival (formerly “Slow Fibre Festival”) has been drawing crowds since it was initiated a couple of years ago. The event specializes on locally reared and locally cultivated fibres, processed locally , and handcrafted by local artisans using time-honoured techniques.  It’s both educational and fun. What an opportunity for the whole family. Bring the children along and teach them about where their clothes and other fabric items originate from.
