Arts Council donates to Oliver Food Bank

A generous audience at the arts council’s Community Christmas Concert on Sunday December 1 contributed a van-load of canned goods and other staples as their admission to the concert. In addition, audience members also gave generously from their wallets, with proceeds after expenses totalling $275.03 being donated by cheque to the Oliver Food Bank today.

The Oliver Community Arts Council thanks all performers, who helped keep our overhead costs to a minimum by performing out of the goodness of their hearts. They are: Oliver Handbell Ringers, Holy Cross School Choir, Nathan Linders, Jeremy Cook, Matthew Thomas, and the Dance Studio of Oliver. You put on an awesome show!

Thanks also to committee volunteers Brian and Jennifer Mapplebeck, Shirley Corley-Rourke, and Penelope Johnson.

And a big thank you to our supportive audience! See you next year!

Please keep the Food Bank in mind this winter. It’s cold out there, and the cold doesn’t end on Boxing Day. So many people have heating expenses that “eat up” their food budget. Don’t let these folks have to choose between staying warm and having a meal.
